op5's new Monitor 4 enhances Nagios
The Swedish vendor op5 has launched version 4.0 of its op5 Monitor network and infrastructure monitor. Using more than 200 tests, the software monitors mail, web and other servers and checks the state of the operating system on both Windows and Linux servers. It uses the Nagios 3.0 open source network monitor, which is said to be notably faster than previous versions. op5 Monitor controls Nagios using a dedicated web interface rather than using Nagios's own web interface. op5 Monitor also inherits some of the features of Nagios 3.0: for example, exceptions can be defined within set timeframes to mark events like bank holidays or times off work.
The op5 website offers a free trial version and an online demo of the monitoring software.
