Opera Mobile 9.5 beta released

Opera Software has released version 9.5 beta of its Opera Mobile phone browser for downloading. Currently, it is only available for the Windows Mobile platform. Like its little brother, Opera Mini, Opera Mobile opens web sites in an overview mode. Users click on a content block, which Opera Mobile then adjusts for the browser's Windows – just as Safari does on the iPhone.

Opera Software has revised the entire GUI, in particular to make it easier for beginners to use the browser. There is a developer tool, called Dragonfly, which has a remote debugging function to allow developers to go hunting for browser bugs. The software vendor says that the new Opera Mobile is much faster than its predecessor.

While the 9.5 beta download is free, unless preinstalled, as it is on the HTC Touch Diamond mobile phone, the current release version Opera Mobile 8.65 costs €19 – around £15. Unlike the free Opera Mini, the mobile version does not get web sites from one of the vendor's proxy servers.
