Microsoft still keeping quiet about Windows 7 - even in a dedicated blog
Steven Sinofsky and Jon DeVaan, the Microsoft executives responsible for the development of Vista's successor, Windows 7, have set up a joint blog to provide information about the next version of Windows. But, apart from the announcement itself, the first blog entry says nothing. Initial details won't be published until autumn, at Microsoft's (Professional Developers Conference (PDC) and Windows Hardware Engineering Conference (WinHEC).
Microsoft has already stated its reasons for saying nothing about Windows 7 until then: the company has learned its lessons. During the development of Windows Vista, Microsoft frequently promised new functions, but was unable to fulfil them later on – something that didn't exactly enhance the company's reputation. Understandably, Microsoft would like to avoid similar PR disasters with Windows 7.
