Dell's Inspiron Mini 9 is now shipping in a new version with the MID edition of Ubuntu Linux 8.04. The revised model is £30 cheaper and has an 8GB SSD. Previously, the Mini 9 was only available with XP and a 16GB SSD. Most of the rest of the machine's specification is unchanged, although the Linux version only has a VGA-resolution 0.3Mpix webcam instead of the upmarket model's 1.3Mpix one.

Dell has been criticised before for not offering a Linux model. However, the hardcore Linux enthusiasts won't be pleased by one detail – according to Dell's photos, the Linux edition still has a Windows key.
