Solid State Drives? 20 October 2008 05:59
Right now we are witnessing the transition from mechanical to
integrated logic mass storage and I personally expect that within
five years todays hard drives will be simply obsolete for most
purposes.
Is there any development for a dedicated high performance SSD
filesystem? Today head seeking times are pretty important and qualify
for some redundancy in storage and operation, this could be done a
lot more efficient by a dedicated SSD file system.
