ZeroTurnaround, makers of the JRebel development and LiveRebel deployment tools, has announced the creation of a research group within the company under the name "Rebel Labs". The company, which had previously released Developer Productivity Reports, has created the research group to pull together a variety of information into reports to address the Java developer and operations communities.

For developers, as well as the Developer Productivity Report, the research group has published reports on mastering Java byte code, classloaders, a pragmatic guide to Scala adoption with an interview with Scala creator Martin Odersky and a look at modern ways of creating Java web apps. For operations, there is a report on using Jenkins, Nexus and LiveRebel for continuous deployment and a promise of more reports to come. Users are required to sign up to gain access to the full reports.

ZeroTurnaround's JRebel is a JVM plugin which allows applications to reload on the fly on local or remote servers, eliminating restarts by using live, in-VM, class reloading. LiveRebel builds on that technology to offer a full development to deployment solution.
