Second preview of Microsoft Office app development tool released

Microsoft Office logo Microsoft has released a second preview version of Office Developer Tools for Visual Studio 2012, used to create Office add-ins and applications. The package includes new project and item templates, a JavaScript console, Java debugging functions and a DOM Explorer.

For the SharePoint tools included in the package, major revisions are particularly evident in the areas of debugging functions, wizards and templates. In addition, it should now be easier to port existing or legacy web projects to SharePoint, and new capabilities include custom activities within workflows and the ability to deploy wokflow solutions to SharePoint Online.

The Office 365 Development Tools, also known as "Napa", have been updated with new features as well. The toolset for creating Office and SharePoint applications is now able to share projects, make copies of projects in the cloud and features improvements to the editor and project folder structure.

The latest version of Napa is available from the Office Store or the Office 365 developer website. The second preview version of Microsoft Office Developer Tools for Visual Studio 2012 is available to downloadDirect download from Microsoft's web site.
