Droidcon London is less than a month away and is shaping up to be the most comprehensive Android-related event in the UK this year. The two-day event is made up of a community-led Barcamp and Democamp on the first day and a second day with four tracks of talks.

The talks on the second day range from beginner coverage of subjects such as the move to using Fragments on Android and developing games for Android-based games consoles, to advanced subjects such as instrumenting Android and dynamic animation in custom views. In between, there are intermediate talks on using NFC, AI integration, developing x86 Android games, analysing memory leaks and interfacing Androids and Arduino. Details of the schedule are available on the events web site.

From the end of the event on the Friday (26 October) to Sunday (28 October) afternoon, the VHack Hackathon is taking place to celebrate Android's fifth birthday (on 5 November). The London event, being held at Skills Matter's Offices, is the final of the European Google Developer Community DevFest competition and will see developers from around Europe coming together to hack for 48 hours for a range of prizes awarded to the best Android app developers.

The event is being held at the Business Design Centre in Islington, London. Tickets for the two days, 25 and 26 October, are £200+VAT until 15 October with student tickets available for £50+VAT.
