Office Developer Tools for Visual Studio 2012
Microsoft has released Office Developer Tools for Visual Studio 2012. The announcement comes a week after the commercial release of Office 365. In contrast to the online tool set for developing apps for the new versions of Office and SharePoint (dubbed Napa), which is updated weekly, the client tools for Microsoft's development environment have previously enjoyed only preview status.
The Visual Studio tools include new design templates intended to assist developers in writing, testing and installing typical Office and SharePoint applications whilst working in the familiar existing development model. Developers can additionally use the tools to produce apps with the new application model that integrates web technologies. Since the earlier preview builds, Microsoft has added a validation mechanism to allow for easier finding and fixing of common errors and refined the workflow designers.
