A new interface is designed to make life easier for developers and providers of Facebook apps; a new Payments reporting API will remove the limitation of daily reports only being emailed to a single recipient. With the new API, a structured CSV file with all the data will be made available to multiple people in a company.

Facebook says the new system will be more reliable because it has built-in checks to ensure that all report consumers receive all the data. It adds that it should also be more secure as it is accessed over HTTPS and uses an OAuth secured HTTP interface. The API should allow Facebook app developers to create applications to process the new source of report data and opens up the opportunity to archive, manage and analyse the data in more effective ways. The new API can be used now; Facebook will be discontinuing the email reporting system in 90 days from the announcement.
